FPS help

Post by X-Lax » June 3rd, 2005, 5:53 am

i can get a fps of 125 when v-sync but every time i go into a server it gets reset and now i still have the 60 fps cap still there after i turn v-sync off... and it still off... so i try and follow the instructions to do it in the control panel but when i go to the control panel there isnt a option of display properties... is it because im running on XP?

Go into your CoD Main folder (Default directory = C:/Program Files/Call of Duty/Main/) and look for a file called config_mp.cfg

Open this file in a text editor (Preferably not notepad, if you have Wordpad then use that).
Use the Search/Find function (CTRL + F is default for most apps). And type in r_swapinterval.

Hopefully it should return with this

r_swapinterval 1 (Change the 1 to a 0)
Once you have changed it save it. (If you play on servers with mods such as PAM, you will have to change the config in the mod folder also).

If you cannot find r_swapinterval in your config (very unlikely) then just add it on a new line at the end.
(If you don't find it, the most obvious case is that you have typed it wrong).

Hope that helps.

If its already 0, then it shouldn't be on.

When you connect to a server, does that server use any mod?

Ok, what I want you to do is this.
Go to you CoD Folder (C:/Program Files/Call of Duty/) and press F3 (Or search).

Search all files for config. hopefully you will find a few. All the config files should be .cfg extension.
Open all of them and change the setting posted above.

If this still does not help, please post back.

Its really simple matter, tis just you need to find whch config file is causing the problem. You can also bind a letter to turn on the command.

Heres something that should work but is imo a bit overtop.

Make a config file called autoexec.cfg
Inside that config add the line
"seta r_swapinterval 0"

Then save the config and put in the same config as the config_mp file.

Now open the config_mp file and type on the last line

exec autoexec.cfg

Should work, but I think its going to extremes :?

you could do what drofder said, but if that doesn't work or you don't want it too complicated...
(I suggest his way, that's the best solution)
use this easy way (not very good, but it works ;))

Go to you CoD Folder C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main\
open the file: config_mp

find your +forward key
make a bind so that when you press forward, V-synch will be turned off:
/bind W "+forward; seta r_swapinterval 0"
(W could be any key)

/me is off learning again (shouldn't watch the forums, but hey... I'm addicted >_<)

Goodness. Just uninstall CoD and delete the folders after you uninstall then install again and stop playing on those servers. Problem solved.
