Active again

Post by De$t!ny » May 20th, 2005, 9:01 am

My exams are finally over! I still need to fix my PC, hopefully a PSU change will do it, then I can be fully active on COD. But anyway I'm getting back to mapping jm_legend, and it's going to be big, bigger than jm_milestone easily. But remember there are different difficulty levels/routes so it's not one long map like jm_krime. I'm going to put in as many new ideas as possible, I know I've said this before too but if you think you have any ideas you would like to see in jm_legend then just let me know (destiny@codjumper.com).

However, the release date of jm_legend may possibly slip to July, since Noodle has his exams in June. I'm going to work on it as much as I can though, since I know you lot have probably been waiting for it for ages. I'll try and post a few more screeshots soon too. Depending on how things go, I could start working on another map at the same time, but nowhere near as complex as jm_legend. It would be a hardcore jumping map like Bitch, so wouldn't take too long to make.

Finally, once my PC is fixed I plan to start accepting UO demos. DO NOT start sending them now, I don't want a massive pile of demos hanging over me even before I even get started! I will let you know when to start sending, hopefully very soon.

Cant wait for legend, sounds amazing (and you havent even told us whats in it yet :P)
Sorta sounds like Maniac Mansion sorta stuff (from enemy territory... if anyone has played it :P)

Destiny showed some screenshots of it though a while ago.

I got exams next 2 weeks, after that I'll be fully active!

I know a few of us have got PC knwoledge, and I also know a lot of others that I can ask.
I personally feel I know quite a bit, but i am sure there are others here that can help out. (Asking to help someone with their problems is now a bad thing to do?)

Just because you can only work the ouse and keyboard, don't be jealous ;)

ok i'll explain the prob, ever since i installed directx 9.0c ive been getting artifacts. its there all the time but worse when i play games. ive tried a bigger psu but didn't help, tried new drivers for gcard but they just make things worse, its not the monitor cos ive tried a diff 1 with same prob, can't test if its the gcard cos don't have a spare. pc specs are

P4 3ghz
1gb ram
radeon 9800 pro
250w psu (which is connected to mobo, dvd drive, cd drive, floppy drive, hdd, gcard)
some dell mobo

if i turn down hardware acceleration a lot, then everything is fine except i can't play games cos they need 2 use direct x. i haven't tried reformatting and using older version of directx yet, but if i can't use 9.0c whats the point, might aswell get a new pc.

Probably the card is hot, have you clocked it?

Your power supply is not big enough for a start.

350w is minimum for good performance.

Like Raven said, have you overclocked.

Also, try running the dxdiag from the run.

(what ATI drivers are you using?)
ive been getting artifacts
Explain further. Extreme pixelation, laggy graphics, noise, fuzzy lines?

the card isn't overclocked and i doubt its overheating since i already c loads of artifacts on start up, ive tried a 300w psu but no difference, im using pre catalyst drivers atm since catalyst doesn't work n e more (just get a black screen if i use it)

on desktop icons look fucked up something like this

Image

when i start up cod it looks like this, but when i play it is 10times worse, u can't c n e thing so no point posting that
