codjumperv3_12 mod issues.

Post by Sonic » January 28th, 2012, 3:17 am

Hey guys :),

So basicly this is whats going on:

After the new mod (codjumperv3_12) got released and uploaded to CoDJumper server #1, it keeps crashing continuously when rotating.

I talked to Dantheman about this, since ecspecially his maps seem to crash the server.
I was wondering if theres a way to get this fixed?

Dan checked all the raw files of his maps and none of them seem to cause issues.
Also, all his maps seemed to work fine without the CJ mod, and with older versions of the CJ mod.

Second thing,

I allready told Drofder about this, but this is just a reminder.

Everyone who is (auto)promoted by GUID (VIP and GUID Admins) are not able to call a vote.
We checked if we were able to vote whenever we demote ourselves, which worked.
Also we tried to manually promote someone and vote, which worked too.

So clearly there's something conflicting between the auto-promotion(GUID) and the vote system.

Also I'd like to suggest to remove the following maps from the rotation on CoDJumper server #1 for now, since it's very annoying to play on when it keeps crashing continuously.

mp_badboys
mp_ib_glass_v3
mp_jm_sewer
mp_portal
mp_peds_propel
mp_digital
mp_pgb_jump
mp_vectra
mp_dungeon_p
mp_trial
mp_to_the_moon
mp_trial_2_p
mp_gp_jump
mp_insane
mp_space
mp_all_in

Me and Dan went through every map in the rotation to check which crashes the server and which don't.
All the maps named above crashed the server while rotating, which means they can be removed from the rotation for now, till the new mod is released and the issue solved.

Hope this helps in further development :),

This is already fixed but the fix has not been made public.
Within the next few hours a full fixed release will be posted.

---

To note, the crash is caused (in most situations) by maps that have 'tapped' in to CoDJumper mod functions. the functions did not use 'callback' variables and when they are called in the new mod, the functions did not exist.

When using a mods functions, the mapper should provide a 'fail-safe' method of turning off these features or re-create the feature and use their own custom files.

There are now callback functions for a lot of the common features (such as saving and loading) and I wil be making it easier for mappers to use these features for their own maps, without causing any future issues.

Doing great :D.

If you can't fix some, don't bother too much lol those can be replaced with other maps if needed.
