CoD 1 Server logging problem

Post by ThaWalrus » December 1st, 2011, 10:40 pm

Hello all,

Since I have my cod 1 server up and running I have been figuring some things out about logs.
There are some commands for the logging:

g_log
logfile
g_logsync
sv_log_damage

One file is automatically created when you run a normal mod with logprints in it, but the other one has to be enabled.

Mine has been enabled by "logfile "1"" and with "g_logsync "2"".
It prints rcon use, downloading and cvar dumps etc.

The problem is, when my server crashes/restarts/starts the old logfile is removed, so it starts a new logfile and the old one is lost. I try to retreive the file as much as possible, but is there a way to 'not overwrite it' or rename it as soon as it is restarted?

Also, how can i change the name of the logfile? Its always console_mp.log and i want to change it to something else because people can download server-files when they know the log name. g_log will change the standard logfile name.

Greetings ThaWalrus

set g_logsync "3" // 0=no log, 1=buffered, 2=continuous, 3=append

Set is to Append.

Hope this helps. ;)

Edit: Let me know if this worked for you?

Hey,

Thanks for your reaction, unfortunately I have tried this g_logsync already.

1, 2, 3, they all refuse to work. One of them writes the data directly to the log, but none of them makes sure that the old log won't be overwritten.

Everytime I restart, stop, start etc. it still overwrites the old one with a completely new file...

Thanks for your help anyway!

Not sure if I can help you any further then :P .
I don't know that much about servers, especially CoD 1 servers.

Goodluck though :) .
